In Search of Stillness
In the spring of 2021, a group of friends—designers, engineers, and creatives from different corners of the world—met in Jingdezhen, each carrying the same quiet fatigue: a growing exhaustion from the pace of modern life. Deadlines blurred into meetings, days felt interchangeable, and the smallest things—like drinking a glass of water—had become mechanical, thoughtless.
They came to this ancient city of porcelain not for business, but for pause. And in the clay-scented studios of local ceramicists, something shifted.
They watched as artisans shaped vessels with bare hands and practiced rituals passed down over centuries. No two cups were alike. The natural imperfections—glaze gradients, surface textures, the rhythm of the wheel—spoke not of flaw, but of presence. These weren’t objects to mass-produce. They were pieces of earth transformed through fire and patience.
Despite coming from vastly different cultures and life paths, the founders all felt it: something sacred hidden in the details.
A sense of the universe, held still in a cup.
